Closure of borders with Haiti and suspension of immigration processes

In view of the conflict arising from the diversion of waters from the Masacre River in Dajabón, which belongs to both the Dominican Republic and Haiti, the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, has ordered the effective closure of land, sea, and air borders with Haiti starting at 6:00 AM on September 15th.

Additionally, the suspension of all visa application and residence permit application processes, as well as their renewals, for Haitian nationals conducted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) and the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) has been ordered until both nations can reach an agreement regarding the conflict situation.
